The King Blues Punk & Poetry Lyrics
1.Headbutt

She had a scream that rattled
The seeds inside the apples
When she uncaged her cackle
Jackals travelled just to battle
She gives the girls screwface
And the men crooked neck
When she walked by my place
I heard a string quartet
Asthmatics lose their breath
The traffic all gets wrecked
The Smokers laps collect
All Their dropped cigarettes
Kids fall onto the decks
Cos they don't watch their steps
And when they're on the floor
They draw her on their etch a sketch
She says that life is like a jungle
And not like a zoo
Participate, don't spectate,
Become the view
Man if Scarface said it
It's just got to be true
So this world, this world right here
This world is for you

I said to all my mates, she won't make a monkey out of me
But when she kissed me it felt like a headbutt
It felt like a headbutt

Staring up at the ceiling
Nurses face disbelieving
Scalpel on arteries
Organs taken larcenies
Holds it up like a trophy
But that heart belongs to Sophie
Slices pieces of me
Each one beats individually
So now I bite the bullet
I'll try to chew right through it
Grinds my teeth to the gums
I gots to see what I've become
There is danger ahead
With a mouthful of lead
But when I fly
It gets harder to deny
So I stood on the shore trying to blow the clouds away
Right back into the sky made out of papier mache
The Sparkles from the moon, danced on top of the waves
Like they knew it was the last song ever to be played

I said to all my mates, she won't make a monkey out of me
But when she kissed me it felt like a headbutt
It felt like a headbutt

She was up high on the stage just dancing it
Breathing fire like God himself had demanded it
Like he'd personally asked and commanded it
Heaven's packed but thanks to her they're still cramming it
She made the sinners blessed by the way that she dressed
Stripteasing, fire breathing, dancing burlesque
Producing beads of cold sweats on mens foreheads
She says welcome to the city of the suffragettes
And if you step out with me you'd better step correct

I said to all my mates, she won't make a monkey out of me
But when she kissed me it felt like a headbutt
It felt like a headbutt

2.Holiday

After 3 long painful hours
We finally step off the train
It don't look like in the brochure
It's all kind of brown and grey
Helter skelter's covered up
Lights out at the fairground
And if the you walk along the pier
You'll see why they burnt it down
Lets wish upon these stones
And we can throw them out to sea
I know it all looks kind of hopeless
But I believe they'll come back to me
And every wave that crashes down
Is a promise I'm making you
Let's take over some old pub
We can make this town brand new

Could have gone for sun and sand
Seen the sights of new Japan
Maybe Thailand or Jamaica
Been enlightened in Malaysia
But I decided we're coming here
It's a washout but we're gonna persevere
In the town that time forgot
We're gonna have fun whether you like it or not

We're going away on holiday
So pack your bags
Away the lads
And leave your dignity behind
For the broken lights on the promenade
And what's left of the skyline

In the pub he's red like lobster
Knocks them back he won't be outdone
Union Jack swimming shorts
In case we don't know where he's from
Goliwog in the shop front window
By the flashing vacancies sign
No wonder when the world turned
It left this town behind
Two lovers in a chip shop doorway
Huddled up 'cos it's howling down
Falling in and out of love tonight
But right now they're stood on common ground
Drunk Romeo and Angry Julie
Cuddly shark and a takeaway
Battered painting
See it fading
From the gloden glory days

Who's gonna choose dirt and rain
When you could just fly to Spain
Wou can get there pretty cheap
Stay for about 'alf a week
But not us we like it here
Greasy food and pricey beer
We're the only ones remaining
We find it all entertaining
Just wake me up when it stops raining

We're going away on holiday
So pack your bags
Away the lads
And leave your dignity behind
For the broken lights on the promenade
And what's left of the skyline

He straightens up his bowtie in the mirror
Checks that his teeth are squeaky clean
For 35 years he's performed
His proudly politically incorrect routine
Bye the time the punchline arrives at climax
The silence is deafening
He realises he's the punchline
As the cold truth dawns on him
The spotlight fades out and the smoke disappears
And he shines he eyes right to the back of the hall
Aghast he screams as he falls to his knees and he sees
Ain't no audience after all
Just swarms of locusts
Rats and roaches
No applause no bunch of roses
We've moved on now he's dying
Cos we don't want to hear your racist jokes
Or your greased lightening

We're going away on holiday
So pack your bags
Away the lads
And leave your dignity behind
For the broken lights on the promenade
And what's left of the skyline

We're going away on holiday
And we know we won't have to queue
Because there's nobody around
The fortune tellers saw their crystal ball
And all moved out of town

3.We Are Fucking Angry

Just a glimpse of the future we're buying
Behind them hands are you laughing or crying?
You fall apart when we ain't complying
And we ain't gonna take this no more
In the fog vampire blood suckers
Fight them off by flinging nunchuckas
You can't stop us, up for the ruckus
And we ain't gonna take this no more

Cut the bankers, cut the MP's
Cut the rich and the riot police
Cut the state and cut the war
But they cut the poor

We are fighting back and we are fucking angry

Hang the judge and kill the jury
Come alive and use your fury
The future will write the history
And we ain't gonna take this no more
Vote of faith and we get what we ask for
This is class war, this is class war
It's what we wear our hoods and our masks for
And we ain't gonna take this no more

Cut the bankers, cut the MP's
Cut the rich and the riot police
Cut the state and cut the war
But they cut the poor

We are fighting back and we are fucking angry

If you cover your ears when we vote or come in peace
Then you give us no choice but to tear down these streets
Students, workers and unemployed unite and rise out of the slum
France, Spain, Greece we're joining you finally our time has
come

We are fighting back and we are fucking angry

4.The Last Of The Dreamers

This is for the messed up kids bound like dynamite,
The wandering drunks out on the town tonight,
For the romantic killer that's never been caught,
For the crackpot who hit the jackpot and stopped.

This is those who climb right to the top,
Just to feel what it's like to drop,
For the critical mass that converges,
For the pedophile suppressing his urges.

This is for the soldier in contempt of court,
Cause he believed in freedom of thought.
This is for the baby who struggles to talk,
But can manage to gargle the language of God.

This is for the origami swan,
Who dared to soar up to the sun.
This is for the outcasts, the freaks and the schemers,
This is for the last of the dreamers.

5.Set The World On Fire

I wake up in the morning,
and take big pharma' lozenges,
Swallowing the juice of Israeli blood oranges,
Then I sit down and read the newspaper,
It tells me the enemy and lets me know the saviour,
This weeks flavour Asylum seekers,
as I lace up my blood-stained sneakers,
I turn on the television, what have I got?
The war rages on and it's only 8 o'clock

Fire, Fire, Well I wanna set the world on fire,
Fire, Fire, Yeah I wanna set the world on fire,
Watch it all burn down,
We can start again,
Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!

They say it's just been invented,
And it's now in shop, heaven scented
and cures all with just one drop,
So pay the doctor, to be the snipper
We want bigger tits, bigger, bigger, bigger, yeah!
This is how we use the greatest minds in science,
Not a cure for cancer, but a profit for giants,
They blind the clients with advertisements
Insecurity heightens
That ain't progress, it's violence

Fire, Fire, Well I wanna set the world on fire,
Fire, Fire, Yeah I wanna set the world on fire,
Watch it all burn down,
We can start again,
Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!

And if you notice my grotesque, protest music,
The choice is yours, you can slate it or use it,
Fight the power? Man, we are the power!
Planting seeds in concrete streets, and they flower,
Politics of love ain't meant to be sinister,
Primitive but I can't find anything similar,
I float around the perimeter,
I only the follow to mob to lynch the Prime Minister

Fire, Fire, Well I wanna set the world on fire,
Fire, Fire, Yeah I wanna set the world on fire,
Watch it all burn down,
We can start again,
Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!
(Watch it all burn down,
We can start again)
Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!
Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!

6.Dancehall

Sometimes i think that
life is just a game.
I get the urge to jump
in front of a moving train.
But like some kind of sick joke
You keep me alive.
Everytime i pass out
you're there to revive.
But when i die, cremate me.
Turn my ashes into dimonds
and turn those shining dimonds
into a crystal ball.
Make it the centrepiece,
Glimmering and shimmering,
Spinning from the ceiling,
In the iddle of the dancehall.

7.The Future's Not What It Used To Be

Outside on the street at 5 AM you know the world has a different
face
And at dawn in the park as the sun beams break the drunks sing
Amazing Grace
While the ladies of the night take as a big bright light comes
crashing down
And you and I put this world to right in this forgotten little
part of town
Well I heard that they say that the traffic warden dances as
Dick Van Dyke does
Throwing shapes around parking meters to adored rapturous
applause
Singing 5 part harmonies and jumping over cars while others dare
to sleep
Well this city is my playground yeah my circus is this street

(Chorus)

Singin' now
Woah oh the futures not what it used to be
So will the last one out please turn off the light, turn off the
light (X2)

When they came to collect the names of the lads that want to
sign up for the army
They said they wanna grow up to be a G gave up on trying to be
like dad the sparky
Why run around 360, like a dog chasing it's tail?
The schoolgirls dressed like hookers the hookers dressed like
schoolgirls

(Chorus)

Singin' now
Woah oh the futures no what it used to be
So will the last one out please turn out the light, turn out the
light (X2)

Killing and drilling well it's all the understand
In the Middle East and Afghanistan
They fight over turf. they fight over land
If you give them a ting-a-ling
While their trigger finger lingers
With the second gun slingers
They fight over that
There's no unity there's just you and me
Trying to keep our heads above the lunacy
It's just the way we're living
And we will never give in
To this -ism schism prison
That all men and women live in
They war over guns they war over God
War over land and they war over drugs
They war, they war, they war over love
War over which God watches from above
They war over oil, they war over race
Some of them are just warring to save face
They war, they war, they war over debt
If it's a war they want it's a war that they'll get

Woah oh the futures not what it used to be
So will the last one out please turn off the light (X3)

8.I Want You

I want you like a foot wants a shoe
Like a 1 wants a 2
Like my pink wants a blue
Like a cheated on partner
Wants an answer
A dancer wants a beat
And a beat wants a groove

I want you like the bully wants to be understood
I want you like the ghetto wants a new Robin Hood
I want you like a soldier wants the smell of home
Like Robson wants Jerome

Yeah, I want you
Yeah, I want you
With everything I am, now I want you
I want you
Yeah, I want you
I'm gonna shout it out for all, that I want you
I want... You

I want you like the police want to call us yobs
I want you like the workers want to keep their jobs
I want you like the right wing want the bone heads
Like the bankers want their bonus

I want you like the people want to see change
I want you like the capital want us the same
I want you like Palestine wants to be free
Like the news round here have no time for me

I want you
Yeah, I want you
With everything I am, now I want you
I want you
Yeah, I want you
I'm gonna shout it out for all, that I want you
I want...

Like the man wants a protest band
A telephone tap and a retina scan
Like a salt wants to be with a pepper
An egg with a bacon
A stamp with a letter
Like a light bulb wants Uncle Fester
Like the fat boys want Chubby Checker
Like Sax, I want to bring together
The

And I want you
Yeah, I want you
I've got everything I am, now I want you
I want you
Yeah, I want you
I'm gonna shout it out for all, that I want you
I want

9.5 Bottles Of Shampoo

She pushed in before me, in the supermarket queue
pretended not to see me, in that way women do.
She put on the counter some bread and milk too
and then she pulled out five different bottles of shampoo.
And I thought to myself, 'I will never understand women.'
And I hear some of you saying, 'Yeah but all men are all the
same!
They all think they're so cool and are ruled by their dicks.'
That might be true of me, but it ain't true of all of us
so don't point that finger so quick.

I do see some of the blokes though,
In the clubs, pinching girls arses, trying to be intimidating
Making obscene passes. Man, she's a goddess, you can tell by the
way she dances.
But you call her a slag when she don't accept your advances.
You just show you got no respect for yourself, show you ain't
got the balls
to just talk to a girl.
So when she chats to me, you spit at her and shout 'Whore!'
Well it is written, in the art of war, to fight only the battles
you can win.
But I will defend your honour til they kick my face in.
If you have to scrape me broken boned, bruised, bloodied, and
battered up off the floor..
Well FUCK IT. Integrity is what black eyes were invented for.

So down with the dick-tatorship, that is so cock-sure,
they use rape as a weapon of war.
FUCK the man who thinks it's ok to give his wife a punch,
FUCK the judge who says it weren't rape cause she was drunk.
And if you're pro-life. I mean if you're PRO .. LIFE,
then become a doctor, or foster a kid.
Make it possible for people who are alive to live.
But don't you dare tell women what they can and can't do,
when it was a woman that gave life to you.

Yes, I'm a man, a fairly stereotypical one,
but I ain't afraid to say I think all women are beautiful and
strong.
Too fat, too thin, that's just media spin,
you look best when you're comfortable in your own skin.
So I'm sorry, if we've made you feel undue,
the truth be known...I'm in awe of you.
You're a giver of life and warrior too.
So do you really need FIVE bottles of shampoo?

10.Sex Education

Sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex.
Sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex education.

Up in his bedroom he's locked the door,
The playground conversation was real hardcore,
They arranged the meeting, he's right on time,
Sees the instant message from his friend online,
Belly rushing, cheeks turning pink,
In a blink his friend sent the link,
The little box asks him 'Are you 18?'
His click of the mouse passing the testing screen.

He never had that little chat with his dad,
It weren't his mum who enlightened this lad,
It was 'Indiana Bones and the Temple of Poon',
'Saturday Night Beaver', 'The Sperminator 2',
Two Girls and One Cup, One Man and One Cup,
Some crackhead slut who's stuck for a buck,
Belly rushing, cheeks turning pink,
And in a blink his friends have the link.

Whether you like it or not,

He met her introduced by a mutual mate
Finally she agreed to let him have a date,
He was mutton like lamb, she was lamb like mutton,
Just grateful no staple in her belly button.
He was so new that he was confused,
So he used her the only way he'd seen how to,
Truth is she was used to this abused,
'It must be love,' she weeped, tenderly bruised.

Now no pop-up books and no blushing teacher,
No parents and no angry preacher,
No cartoons and no diagrams,
Just fifteen girls and one lucky man.
Warts and all with the moans and the groans,
Ex's filmed on mobile phones,
No giggling and certainly no doodles,
Man, that last one looked pretty brutal.

Whether you like it or not,

11.Shooting Fascists

Well he's looking, he's looking, he's looking down,
Hoping you'll clean up this dirty old town.
Finish his battle, before it turns rotten,
Your granddad didn't vote for fascists, he shot 'em.

Yeah he shot 'em, he shot 'em, he shot 'em down,
Fired his gun till they hit the ground.
So I hope, you've not forgotten:
Your granddad didn't vote for fascists
He shot 'em down.

13.Everything Happens For A Reason
